Job Description

As the Librarian, the jobholder is responsible for supporting the enhancement and daily operation of the school library, ensuring effective resource management, improved user experience, and alignment with international school library practices.

A. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Library Operations & Development

  • Support the ongoing development and enhancement of the existing school library in alignment with international standards.

  • Review and improve library procedures, workflows, and resource organization systems.

  • Maintain efficient cataloguing, classification, and circulation processes.

  • Ensure smooth daily library operations and high-quality user support.

2. Resource & Collection Management

  • Manage and maintain print and digital collections to support student learning needs.

  • Assist in collection development, including resource selection, acquisition, and evaluation.

  • Maintain accurate records within the library management system.

  • Conduct periodic inventory checks and prepare asset reports.

3. Library Services & Student Engagement

  • Support students and staff in accessing and utilizing library resources effectively.

  • Promote reading culture through library initiatives and engagement activities.

  • Contribute to programs that encourage independent learning and information literacy.

  • Maintain an organized, welcoming, and student-centered library environment.

4. Collaboration & Support

  • Collaborate with academic teams to align library resources with curriculum needs.

  • Provide resource support for student research and academic projects.

  • Contribute ideas to improve library services and user experience.

5. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain documentation related to library operations.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of library facilities and equipment.

  • Other reasonable task assigned by the Line Manager/School Leadership. 

B. JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, Education, or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in Education, preferred.

2. Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in working in a library, preferably within a school or educational environment.. 
  • Experience organizing school-wide events like Book Week and exhibitions.
  • Effective multitasking, project supervision, and innovative program development.

3. Knowledge 

  • Understanding of modern library practices, cataloguing, and resource management systems.

  • Knowledge of library management software and digital resource platforms.

  • Familiarity with international school environments and student-centered learning approaches.

  • Awareness of information literacy and reading promotion practices in schools.

4. Skills 

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, teachers, and staff.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to improve processes and workflows.

  • Good English skills (written and spoken).
