Objective of Job

The Vice Principal for the International Program Primary School (IPPS) is a senior academic leader dedicated to driving excellence in bilingual and international education. The role ensures consistently high standards of learning, teaching, and student wellbeing while cultivating a safe, inclusive, and aspirational school culture aligned with UTS’s mission: Grow, Lead, Impact.

As a visible and collaborative leader, the Vice Principal inspires teachers, empowers students, and engages parents and the wider community. The position ensures that the school’s curriculum and pedagogy are innovative, future-focused, and compliant with both international accreditation standards and Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) regulations. The Vice Principal also plays a key role in strategic planning, professional development, and continuous improvement, supporting UTS’s ambition to be the benchmark for future-ready K-12 education in Vietnam.

A. YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY

1. High Quality of Learning and Teaching (HQLT) (60%)

  • Lead the implementation of the International Program curriculum (Common Core/Oxford) across Primary School.
  • Ensure alignment and integration between MoET requirements and international standards.
  • Oversee effective assessment and reporting systems.
  • Promote student-centered, inquiry-based, and digital learning approaches.
  • Conduct classroom observations, coach teachers, and lead professional learning.
  • Mentor subject coordinators and middle leaders to uphold consistent standards.
  • Use school performance data to drive improvement and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with Council of International Schools (CIS) and other accreditation frameworks.

2. Student Wellbeing & Global Citizenship (20%)

  • Safeguard and promote student welfare in line with child protection policies.
  • Oversee student behaviour management and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs and Counselling teams to support learning and emotional needs.
  • Embed UTS core values and foster intercultural understanding, empathy, and ethical citizenship.
  • Lead co-curricular, enrichment, and service-learning opportunities that build leadership and global competencies.

3. Parent & Community Engagement (10%)

  • Act as the primary point of contact for parent concerns related to IPPS.
  • Communicate proactively with parents regarding student progress, curriculum, and school initiatives.
  • Represent the school at community events, conferences, and parent workshops.
  • Ensure effective organisation of parent-teacher conferences and parent information sessions.

4. Strategic & Operational Contribution (10%)

  • Support the Principal/Head of School in school improvement planning, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate across departments (HR, Admissions, Student Affairs) to support smooth school operations.
  • Contribute to accreditation, compliance, and re-authorisation processes with MoET and international bodies.
  • Lead and coordinate events, competitions, and projects that enhance school reputation and student experience. • Oversee entrance assessments and contribute to student recruitment processes.

B. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), PGCE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Qualified teacher status with a focus on Primary Education.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of successful teaching experience in primary schools, including experience in international or bilingual settings.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven school leadership experience (e.g. Head of Year, Deputy/Vice Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, or equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and intercultural communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to use data-informed school improvement practices to drive teaching, learning, and student achievement.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Expertise in language acquisition and bilingual pedagogy.
  • Successful experience in curriculum design, international accreditation (e.g., CIS, WASC, NEASC), and compliance processes.
  • Leadership experience in international or bilingual schools.
  • Evidence of leading school improvement initiatives or strategic projects.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and technology-enhanced pedagogy.
  • Vietnamese language skills or prior experience collaborating with MoET/DOET
